What is Washi Tape? Washi Tapes are multi-use decorative tapes often used in paper craft projects such as scrapbooking or journaling. It differs from regular masking tapes as it is not meant to permanently hold things together and it is much thinner with a low tack adhesive. The term washi tape comes from "Japanese Paper" and first originated in Japan from a masking tape company who received a request to beautify their masking tape in 2006.
